Mary comes from a fire service family with her father and uncle both founding members of the Liberty Township Fire Department. Mary began her career with the Liberty department, then moved to Porter after she married Ray (who is a former Porter Chief). After her father retired and moved to Florida, Mary and Ray moved into the family homestead and both became members of the Liberty department, where they still serve today.
Mary is employed as a paramedic with Porter Hosiptal EMS, and was one of the original members of F.I.S.T. when it began in 1997.
Dan has been with the team since it's inception, first as a Technician, and for the last several years as an Investigator after completion of the N.F.P.A. Investigator I certification program.
Dan works for NIPSCO and is a member of both the Pine Township and Beverly Shores Fire Departments.
John has been a member of the Kouts Fire Department for several years, and joined the team in the fall of 1998. John completed his Indiana Fire Investigator I training in the summer of 2003, and currently serves as the Team Safety Officer.
John is employed as a service technician for a local fire extinguisher service company. Besides his other emergency service related duties, John is a retired sergent in Company B, 113th Engineers Battalion of the Indiana National Guard.
Al became a member of the team shortly after completing his N.F.P.A. Investigator I training program during the summer of 2003.
Al began his fire service career with the South Haven Fire Department in 1983, achieving the rank of Lieutenant before moving to the career side of the department as a Firefighter/EMT. Al resigned from the career side of the department in November of 2006 but remains an active volunteer, currently holding the rank of Captain. He is now employed as a Captain at Mittal Steel Fire Department. Several years ago, Al's son Boe also became a volunteer with the department and today serves side by side with his father.
